In 2004/2005 Metcalf Construction performed a major remodel/addition to our home. Joe and his crew did an outstanding, high quality job. This was our first remodel, and we weren't sure what to expect. Metcalf always kept us apprised of the construction schedule and 'held our hand' during the entire process. Joe's expertise helped us avoid making poor choices (i.e. light floors vs. four kids and pets). From reviewing the architectural drawings, to helping us decide on our materials, we put our trust in Metcalf and the many craftsmen who worked on our home.
We lived in our home during the construction and our comfort and safety were always considered a priority. Our questions were answered quickly and issues were resolved in a timely manner. Metcalf was also very prompt following up with any concerns, even after the construction had been completed.
Thanks to Joe and all of his staff, we have turned our house into the home we always envisioned!

Metcalf construction did two remodels for us on our home in Alamo, CA. The first was 1000 sq ft. and included expansion and addition of rooms on the second story and expansion of the great room and dinning room on the main floor. Some seven years ago, my wife and I had a burning desire to design and• build a new house, taking into account our life style and our space needs. We found a beautiful lot in Walnut Creek with a creek and many oak trees over 200 years old. On a house tour of a well known person's home, we saw some fine work and great ideas. We spoke to that architect and were very impressed. We asked him to put our ideas and needs into a house plan and recommend the best general contractors in the area, in his opinion. We interviewed many, and through process of elimination, chose Joe Metcalf to build our home. To this day, we could not have been more pleased with that choice.
Or house was to be unusual, spacious, but without a lot of bedrooms, because our children are all grown and out of our home. We wanted a large room for my wife to sew, a nice study, a large master bedroom, and an open arid spacious kitchen and family room, while still having room when family and friends stayed with us. There are unusual angles to the rooms, presenting interesting challenges to ceilings and the roof, Joe and his accommodating staff often were asked to come up with creative solutions to unique problems, and they never let us down... He dealt with all the permits and lien releases in a timely fashion, hired creative subs who were willing to give it that something extra, and finished the project on time. He addressed every situation as it came up and didn't put off difficult decisions.
Joe not only built us a beautiful, quality home, but continues to stay in touch, showing our home to some of his prospective clients. As little things have come up concerning the house, over the last few years, we have continued to as him for suggestions. He and his wife (and office manager), Lori, have been wonderful people to work with, and we would not hesitate to recommend them as a general contractor... We wanted a remodel that was quite a major undertaking. You delivered exactly what we asked for. We are extremely pleased with the work that was done and found working with you to be a very positive experience.
